Warehouse worker resume examples
Describe the picking, packing, receiving and equipment work you actually did. These fictional examples name authorizations honestly and never manufacture a clean safety record.

What the hiring manager needs to see
The BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook profile of hand laborers and material movers, accessed October 16, 2026, describes the occupation's duties nationally. Use it to find relevant experience, not as a list of skills you automatically have. Employer policies and state rules may be narrower.
A warehouse resume should name the area you worked in, the scanner or warehouse system you used and the equipment you were authorized to operate. Separate picking, packing, receiving, putaway and shipping work. Helping in shipping one week is not the same as owning a dock.
Federal OSHA rules require employers to train and evaluate powered industrial truck operators, such as forklift drivers, before letting them operate one outside supervised training, and to evaluate them at least every three years. Training at one employer does not automatically authorize you elsewhere. Name the equipment type and write that you were authorized, not that you hold a universal forklift license. Forklift operation is covered in the BLS profile of material moving machine operators.

Questions to ask before writing
- Which areas did you work: picking, packing, receiving, putaway or shipping?
- Which scanner, warehouse system or paperwork did you use?
- Which equipment were you trained, evaluated and authorized to operate?
- What did you check before an order or shipment moved on?
- What did you report, and to whom, when something was damaged or short?
- Were you assigned to train or lead others?
- Which rate or accuracy figures can you verify from a report you may share?
Answer with a specific shift, week or task. Name the system you used and who approved exceptions. If you cannot verify a count, leave it out.
Before, the spoken answer and the rewrite
Casey Brooks is a fictional warehouse worker at a fictional distribution center. The rewritten bullet uses only facts from its spoken answer. Do not copy a bullet unless it describes your work.

After
Verified items against packing slips, selected cartons by the size guide and applied shipping labels, setting aside damaged items for supervisor review.
Before
Unloaded trucks.
The question
What did receiving involve besides unloading?
They said
I unloaded inbound freight with a pallet jack, counted cartons against the bill of lading and noted damage or shortages on the receiving log before putaway.

After
Reported a damaged rack upright to the supervisor and kept the aisle blocked until maintenance inspected it.
Entry-level and experienced applications
For an entry-level warehouse resume, use stocking, retail backroom, moving or volunteer sorting work with the right label. Describe checks, lifting with proper technique and following procedures. Do not list forklift experience from watching others or from a training video alone.
For an experienced or lead warehouse role, explain the assignments you actually held, such as training new pickers, running a receiving door or cycle counting. State whether you directed a team or worked beside it. Name equipment authorizations by type.
Use reverse chronological order with real job titles and dates. Put current credentials in their own section with the issuer and status. Do not list a credential as earned while you are still preparing for it.

What not to claim
- A spotless safety record or zero incidents. You cannot verify what you did not see, and the record belongs to the site.
- A forklift license or certification that carries across employers. Authorization comes from your employer after training and evaluation.
- Pick rates, accuracy percentages or productivity rankings you cannot trace to a report and a period.
- Supervisor or inventory-control authority because you helped with counts or covered a lead's break.
- Hazmat handling or equipment types you were not trained and authorized to use.

Questions
- Can I put forklift certified on my resume?
- Write the equipment type and that your employer trained, evaluated and certified you to operate it, with the year. OSHA requires each employer to certify its own operators' training and evaluation, so training at one job does not automatically carry to the next.
- Should I include my pick rate?
- Only if a report you may share shows it for a stated period. Otherwise describe the scanner workflow, checks and areas you worked.
- How do I move from retail to warehouse work?
- Keep your retail title and describe backroom tasks you did, such as receiving, stocking and price changes. Leave equipment you did not operate off the resume.
